Taylor Place
Acorn DevelopmentOur proposal for the reuse of the Taylor School site in New Bedford, MA seeks to reinforce and build on the strengths of New Bedford’s existing urban fabric. Encompassing a whole block, the currently undeveloped side of the block would be organized into 60 units of multifamily housing organized around a new pedestrian-friendly shared street, while the existing school building would be retrofitted to accommodate 20 accessible units. We worked with Acorn Development to design a typology for the site that speaks to New Bedford’s historic wood-framed multifamily construction but with modern detailing, construction and unit layouts. The team for our proposal includes Lu-La Landscape Architects, RSE Associates and VvS Energy Consultants.
