Our winning design for the recent Welcome Home Boston 3 RFP is built around a thoughtful response to community feedback. Hearing that 2-bedroom units would be the most desirable, we developed a scheme made up entirely of 2-bedroom home ownership units that will be priced to meet the need for missing middle housing in Boston. Each unit features private open space and abundant access to daylight. The building picks up on the architectural cues in the neighborhood. It is massed to fit in with nearby four-story brick buildings on Stoughton Street and envisioned with a brick facade and stepping volumes that break down the scale and evoke the brick bays of nearby Uphams Corner buildings.
The project will be designed to meet Passive House certification requirements and will feature interior bike storage for all units, an improved streetscape with new visitor bike racks and covered parking for six cars.
